Alchemy, salad, artistic-ness?
Hey locals- ever heard of this??
If we didn't already have plans next weekend, I would really be nudging
dharmaatworkand
icbhod so we could all go... it looks like a blast!
jadedmyrrhmaid, weren't you looking for local festivals like this a while ago?
I made a really wonderful salad, inspired by a salad that
dharmaatworkmade a while ago, and I thought I'd share the recipe.
1 cucumber, peeled, seeded and cut into small chunks
1 chayote, peeled and cut into small chunks
2 limes
handful of Italian parsley, chopped roughly
handful of fresh dill, chopped roughly
olive oil
salt and pepper
Roll the limes on the table to get the most juice out of them. Combine the cucumber, chayote and herbs in a bowl. Cut limes in half and squeeze all the juice into the veggies. Drizzle on about 3 tbl olive oil, and then stir thoroughly. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
This is sharp and refreshing and summery and crunchy and wonderful.
I got out my bead box for the first time in a long time last night and warped up a new necklace. I was halted for a long time by a frustrated search for the *right* fibers to weave with. I'm still not happy with what I'm using, but I'm going to go ahead and use what I have rather than continue to not do anything. What I really want in my avaricious little fiber dreams is variegated and handspun silk, just a tiny bit thicker and rougher/nubbier than purl cotton, with a tiny variegation pattern because the width of my weaving is only a few inches!! I am always reluctant to buy fiber online though. I want to be able to touch it before I buy it. I am open to suggestions!
